Our services

From excavation and drainage to the finished surface.

One family team can take care of the full project, keeping the groundwork, levels, edges and final appearance working together from the start.

A complete service

The preparation is planned for the surface you choose.

A good-looking driveway or patio starts below ground level. We assess the existing surface, soil, access, drainage and intended use before deciding how the area should be prepared.

Depending on the project, the work can include excavation, membrane, compacted Type 1 MOT, drainage channels, edge restraints, laying courses, mortar, jointing and removal of agreed waste. Your quotation will describe the work included for your property.

01

Block paving driveways

We install block paving in traditional and contemporary layouts, with colours and borders chosen to suit your property. The area is prepared from the ground up so the finished driveway is neat, stable and built for daily use.

Typical work can include

  • Excavation and removal of agreed waste
  • Compacted Type 1 MOT sub-base
  • Edge restraints, falls and drainage where required
  • Sharp-sand laying course, block laying and compaction

Resin-bound driveways

A resin-bound surface gives a clean, seamless appearance and can work well for driveways, paths and entrance areas. We assess the existing base, edging and drainage before recommending the right preparation for a lasting finish.

Typical work can include

  • Assessment and preparation of the existing surface
  • New suitable base where the old base cannot be reused
  • Secure edging and correct finished levels
  • Evenly mixed and hand-laid resin-bound aggregate

Tarmac driveways

Tarmac is a reliable option for busy family homes and larger entrance areas. Good preparation is essential, so we plan the excavation, sub-base, edging and water run-off before the surface is laid and compacted.

Typical work can include

  • Dig-out and suitable compacted sub-base
  • Strong block, kerb or concrete edge restraints
  • Drainage channels and sensible falls where needed
  • Machine-laid or hand-laid tarmac to suit the area

Porcelain paving

Porcelain paving creates a clean, consistent finish for modern outdoor spaces. We install large-format slabs on a suitable prepared base and full mortar bed, using the correct primer and taking care over falls, cuts, joints and transitions.

Typical work can include

  • Ground excavation and compacted sub-base
  • Full mortar bed and suitable primer where required
  • Accurate cuts around walls, drains and features
  • Jointing, clean edges, steps and drainage details

Patios & outdoor living areas

A successful patio should feel connected to the house and the rest of the garden. We help plan the size, paving style, levels, access routes, steps and finishing details before installing porcelain, Indian sandstone or other suitable paving.

Typical work can include

  • Removal of agreed old paving and excavation
  • Compacted sub-base and appropriate laying system
  • Falls, drainage, edges, steps and access details
  • Porcelain, sandstone or agreed paving and jointing

Paths, paving & garden steps

Paths and steps are often what make a garden work properly day to day. We install paving that connects doors, patios, gates, sheds and garden rooms while considering width, levels, edges, water run-off and comfortable access.

Typical work can include

  • Clearance, excavation and agreed waste removal
  • Suitable compacted foundation and laying system
  • Edge restraints, accurate levels and planned falls
  • Paving, steps, joints and tidy transitions

Gravel drives & edging

Gravel can suit driveways, paths, side areas and garden features when the base and boundaries are prepared correctly. We plan the excavation, membrane, aggregate depth, edging and transitions to adjoining paving or lawn.

Typical work can include

  • Excavation and levelling of the agreed area
  • Suitable compacted sub-base and separation membrane
  • Timber, block, kerb or sleeper edging as agreed
  • Selected decorative or driveway gravel spread evenly

Drop kerb project preparation

A dropped kerb affects the public highway and normally requires permission from the local authority, with work completed under its rules by an appropriately approved contractor. We can discuss how the private driveway, levels and drainage need to coordinate with the approved highway work.

Typical work can include

  • Initial discussion of access, frontage and driveway layout
  • Planning of private-side levels, edges and drainage
  • Coordination points for approved highway works
  • A clear quotation for the private driveway work we agree

Garden landscaping

When a project involves more than paving, we can bring the different parts together. From fresh turf and sleeper borders to paths, steps and gravel areas, the work is planned as one complete garden rather than a collection of separate jobs.

Typical work can include

  • Removal and clearance of agreed existing materials
  • Ground levelling, topsoil and new turf
  • Sleeper beds, edging, gravel and planted areas
  • Paths, stepping stones and connected patio areas

Fencing & boundary work

The edges and boundaries make a big difference to the finished result. We can include fencing, gravel boards, concrete or timber posts, small walls, drainage channels and other agreed finishing work within the overall quotation.

Typical work can include

  • Fence panels, feather-edge fencing and gates
  • Timber or concrete posts and gravel boards
  • Small walls, steps and retaining borders
  • Aco-style drainage channels and tidy transitions

The details matter

Levels, drainage and edges are considered before laying begins.

We plan where rainwater needs to go, how the new surface meets doors, paths and the pavement, and what will hold the outside edges in place. These decisions protect the appearance and performance of the finished work.

Drop-kerb work and changes to the public highway may require local authority approval. We can discuss the project requirements during your site visit.
